Now at its fourth generation, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is slowly undressed of its secrets. After we've learned about the ponies churned out by the 1.5 and 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G powerplants and the curb weight of the ND, time has come to talk about its cargo capacity.

Without further ado, the ND generation boasts with 130 liters/4.59 cubic feet of cargo capacity. See the photograph above? Yohei Hashimoto of Japanese motoring publication Car Watch let this detail slip on the World Wide Web. But how does that compare to the third-geneneration Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Well, the NC's trunk can swallow up to 150 liters/5.29 cuFT of junk. It's not much of a difference between it and the all-new generation, but those 20 liters/0.7 cubic feet are very important for a sportscar as restrictive with luggage as the Miata is and has always been.

As you can see for yourself in Mr. Hashimoto's picture of the boot (or trunk for our North American readers), the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata roadster is the type of car that demands its owner to get acquainted with the art of "luggage gymnastics." Now try to imagine what you can fit in there...

Two large backpacks, four large grocery bags or two small strolleys at best is our guess at how much the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata (ND) is able to swallow in its puny boot. Furthermore, the shape of the boot lid opening isn't exactly helpful for those that need to load bulky items.

A baby stroller is out of the question for that matter, but hey, the MX-5 Miata is all about the organic driving experience, not cargo capacity.
