"The MX-5 Launch Edition will give enthusiasts the opportunity to take ownership of one of the very first, very exclusive, 2016 MX-5s to arrive in the U.S.," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations, at the 2015 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).

Painted Soul Red and equipped with Sport Tan leather--an exclusive color combination reserved for the Launch Edition--this version of the car will include the full load of equipment available for the MX-5 Miata. In addition to heated leather seats, it has a Mazda Connect infotainment system with a 7-in. color touch-screen display, navigation system, Bose premium audio system that includes headrest speakers, automatic climate control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning system, automatic high-beam headlights, and more.

Also in New York, Mazda announced the return of the MX-5 Miata Club trim level for 2016. The Club will build on standard equipment with a Mazda Connect infotainment system, Bose premium audio system, black-painted side mirrors and seat back bars, front air dam, rear lip spoiler, and 17-in. gunmetal-finish wheels wrapped in 205/45 tires.

Changes to the MX-5 Miata Club go beyond cosmetic when the car is equipped with the standard 6-speed manual gearbox. Shift your own gears and you'll benefit from a limited-slip rear differential, shock tower brace, and Bilstein performance shocks. Choose the available automatic transmission and the Club won't include these features.

Mazda says that the new 2016 MX-5 Miata goes on sale in the summer of 2015, and that details regarding pricing and packaging will be available closer to that time.
