Are you just dying to get your hands on one of the very first 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miatas to hit the U.S. market? Better navigate your browser over to Mazda's website: Ordering for the super-limited Launch Edition opened at noon today.
The Launch Edition is limited to just 1,000 examples. Based on the top-spec Grand Touring trim, each one will be painted Soul Red (the color shown on the Euro-spec example above), with a tan leather interior. 17-inch wheels, heated seats, automatic climate control, an upgraded Bose stereo, GPS, automatic high beams, and active safety tech including lane-departure warning and rear cross-traffic sensors round out the luxury amenities.
The special edition Miata also comes with a Mazda-branded Bose portable Bluetooth speaker and some Mazda-fied apparel, so your friends will know you're one of the earliest Miata buyers even when you're not tooling around in your drop-top.
That might be a little more luxury than we're used to expecting in Mazda's lightweight roadster, and at roughly $30,500 for the manual transmission (and a little over $1,000 more for the auto), it's significantly pricier than the $24,950 base model. But hey?there's a cost to being first.
